Q. |
What is Vertebral Subluxation Complex? |
| A. |
Any stress that's too much for you: a fall as an infant or child, emotional tension,
a car accident, a sports injury, sleeping or watching TV in an awkward position, childbirth, getting
out of a car, overdoing exercise or being a couch potato. (Because so much spinal damage can occur
in childhood, children especially need periodic spinal checkups by a doctor of chiropractic.) |
Q. |
What happens if I have an unhealthy spine? |
| A. |
An unhealthy spine is characterized by bad posture, tight and tense muscles, "pinched
nerves," bone and disc degeneration, lowered resistance to disease, fatigue and overall
body malfunction. This state is also called dis-ease meaning "general lowered health."
When you have dis-ease, you fall prey to all kinds of diseases and health conditions. |
Q. |
What are some of the early signs of Vertebral Subluxation
Complex? |
| A. |
One of the first signs of a spine out of balance is lack of energy or fatigue. Other signs
may be one shoulder higher than the other, a foot flaring out when you walk, more ease on turning
your head or back to one side than the other and uneven wearing out of the heels on your shoes.
Pain is one sign that something is wrong of course, but it may arise long after the initial
subluxation first appeared. |
Q. |
Is chiropractic care helpful in serious accidents? |
| A. |
Absolutely! In a serious accident, the communication lines between the brain and the rest of the
body can be seriously interrupted by vertebral subluxations. After the medical doctors have done
their work to stop bleeding, stitch broken skin
together, set broken bones, remove bullets, supply lost body fluids, control shock and other
stabilizing procedures, there is a period of pause. In that pause, when it is safe to do so, the
body should receive the chiropractic care that it desperately needs. |
Q. |
Do children need chiropractic care? |
| A. |
Childhood is a very "physical" time. Jumping, running, falls and accidents are all
part of a normal childhood and yet they can cause spinal misalignments and nerve damage - with
serious consequences. Correction of vertebral subluxations in children's spines
can have a powerful effect on many aspects of their lives. For decades, many parents have noticed
positive changes in the physical health, behavior and emotional states of their children following
a chiropractic adjustment. |
